GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP NJ (CNBNews.net)–On Monday, May 4, 2015 at 1:23 PM, Gloucester Township Police units and the Blackwood Fire Department were dispatched to the Charles W Lewis Middle School, after a maintenance worker reported that a battery, located in the boiler room, had exploded.
At the time of the incident, a maintenance worker from the school district was performing routine maintenance on a back-up battery belonging to a generator when the battery exploded. The battery, no larger than a standard car battery, was stored in a maintenance area which is located away from students and faculty.
